La Marzocco KB90 Espresso Machine

The KB90 is the Linea PB rebuilt around the barista's hands. It keeps the Linea PB's independent brew boilers, saturated groups and dual PID, and adds the straight-in portafilter: the portafilter pushes straight into the group and locks without the twist, which La Marzocco says cuts the strain of engaging it by 12 times. On a bar pulling hundreds of shots a day, that is the point of the machine.

After every shot the group purges itself with a burst of steam from the steam boiler, followed by a flush of hot water, so the brew path stays clean through service and the barista backflushes less often. The steam valve can be rebuilt from the front of the machine without removing it.

Auto-Volumetric doses by volume from programmable buttons. Auto-Volumetric with Scales adds drip-tray scales and La Marzocco's Auto Brew Ratio: the shot stops by weight, and a Drip Prediction algorithm accounts for what is still falling when the pump cuts, which makes dialing in quicker. Both come in 2 and 3 group.

Also on the machine: brew water pre-heated before it reaches the boiler, a hot water economizer for setting tap temperature, and LED barista lights.
